INKTOBER DAY 16! For today’s piece of Save The Songbirds concept art, I drew the cafe again. I’m still working out the shape and design of this place, and it helps to draw it from different angles to make sure I won’t run into problems for a certain ‘shot’ in the story.

INKTOBER DAY 15! Another simpler concept piece for Save The Songbirds today. Here is Dixon the robin in a very action-y pose with a gun I based on the guns from Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons. This pose is actually drawn from a real photo of a robin (minus the gun of course haha!), and I think I need to do more bird drawings from photos. I have in the past, but less recently. I’m thinking to try and de-violence the guns, I might have them be loaded with ‘fangs’ instead of bullets, just so they are less realistic, but we’ll see!

This weekend I was selling copies of the first part of Denna’s Day Out – ‘Morning’s Missive’ at the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. I was tabling alongside an illustrator and friend of mine Rory Dunne and we had a great, but tiring time. As well as selling comics and catching up with friends from last year’s festival, I had time to continue inktober. Here are the drawings I did for days 13 and 14.

The latter was inspired because it was drawn near the end of the second day and I felt very much the same! I am endeavouring to go to more comic conventions this year as I really enjoyed and did pretty well selling at this one!
