Sorry for the lack of posting this week, I’ve been ill with a horrible cold, which means as well as not wanting to create things to post, I’ve also not been able to record an episode of The Double Barrel Show with Jamie. However today I’m feeling somewhat better, better enough to send submissions of my comic pitch to publishers.
I sent one off earlier this morning, and fifteen minutes later they replied to me, rejecting my pitch. Now you might say that’s sad, but actually it was very lovely for two reasons. Firstly, it was very nice of them to actually reply to me at all, and so soon too, seeing as most publishers don’t bother replying unless they want to take your pitch further. Secondly, the man said that even though they couldn’t publish it, it was ‘good work’. Now this alone is a massive lift up, because this is the first person in the comic world to look at my work and give some comment on it. He could have said nothing, but he said it was ‘good’.
That gives me the confidence to carry on with this submission process, because if it is ‘good’, then somewhere out there there must be a home for my graphic novel, it’s just a matter of time before I find it…
